API availability and correctness

API Monitoring

Your API can answer 200 and still return the wrong data. Upzilla runs multi-step scenarios against your endpoints from several locations and alerts you the moment a response is slow, missing or wrong.

Why APIs need their own monitor

APIs sit behind logins, checkouts, mobile apps and partner integrations. When one fails, the website can look perfectly fine while customers cannot pay or sign in. A simple page check never notices, because it only loads a page.

An API monitor behaves like a real client. It sends requests in order, passes values from one step to the next and checks what comes back, so a broken method or a changed response is caught before customers report it.

What Upzilla checks

Every check is stored in a full log, so you can see exactly when and how something changed.

Multi-step scenarios

Build a sequence of requests with a drag-and-drop scenario builder. Each step has its own parameters.

Response validation

Check status codes and response content, not just whether the server answered.

Speed per step

See how long each request takes so a slow endpoint stands out immediately.

Full check log

Every run is stored with its result, so you can trace exactly when behaviour changed.

How it works

From sign-up to your first alert in a few minutes.

Describe the flow

Add the requests your API needs: auth, read, write. Pass data between steps if required.

Choose locations and interval

Run from one or several locations, as often as every minute.

Get alerted

A failed step or a slow response triggers your chosen channels immediately.

Settings you can control

Sensible defaults get you started; every option below can be tuned per monitor.

SettingWhat it does
Check stepsDefine the requests to send and the responses to validate. REST, SOAP and other web services are supported.
FrequencyHow often the check runs: 1 to 120 minutes. The Free plan checks from every 15 minutes; Premium from every minute.
LocationsRun the check from one or several of 9 locations: Spain, France, United Kingdom, USA (New York, Los Angeles), Australia, Singapore, Japan and Germany.
NotificationsPick any of your pre-configured alert channels: e-mail, SMS, Telegram, Slack, Messenger, voice call, webhooks and more.
Status pageMake the statistics of this monitor public or private.
TagsGroup monitors with tags to keep large accounts tidy.
IP versionForce IPv4, IPv6, or let Upzilla use whichever is available.

Common use cases

Checkout and payments

Prove that the full order flow works, not only that the homepage loads.

Mobile app backends

Watch the endpoints your app depends on around the clock.

Partner and third-party APIs

Know when a service you rely on degrades, before your users feel it.

After a release

Catch regressions in a changed endpoint within minutes of deploying.

Questions about api monitoring

What kinds of APIs can I monitor?

REST, SOAP and other HTTP-based web services. You define the requests and what a correct response looks like.

Is an API monitor different from an uptime monitor?

Yes. An uptime monitor checks that a URL responds. An API monitor runs a sequence of calls and validates what they return.

Can I see how fast each step is?

Yes. Response time is recorded for every check, so slow endpoints are easy to spot in the statistics.

Do I get a status page?

Yes. Every monitor can have a public or private status page, including on the free plan.
