Free Tools / JSON Beautifier

JSON Beautifier

Paste minified or messy JSON to get clean, indented, validated output. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

Why format JSON

Minified JSON is great for machines and painful for people. A beautifier adds indentation and line breaks so you can read the structure, and parsing it first doubles as a validity check.

Reading API responses

Expand a single-line response from an API or webhook so you can actually see the nesting.

Spotting syntax errors

A trailing comma or a missing quote is reported with the parser’s own error message instead of being guessed at.

Config files

Tidy package.json, composer.json or app settings before committing them.

Debugging monitors

Check the JSON body your uptime or API monitor expects and compares against.

Frequently asked questions

Is my JSON sent to a server?

No. Parsing and formatting use your browser’s built-in JSON engine — nothing leaves your machine.

Why does it say my JSON is invalid?

JSON is stricter than JavaScript: keys need double quotes, no trailing commas, no comments. The error message points at the position of the problem.

Is there a size limit?

Input is capped at 200,000 characters to keep the page responsive.

Formatting JSON is easy. Knowing your API is up is the hard part.

Upzilla checks API endpoints and validates the JSON they return, around the clock.
